2002 Chioma Talks Scholarship Fund recipient
Suzanne Nguyen is a student at Weston Collegiate Institute. She received the scholarship based on her academic performance, volunteer work, and her winning essay. Here is an excerpt from that essay: “I have control of my life, my studies and my health. Many of my classmates do not know that I cannot afford a CD player, a new wardrobe, ... They think I have grown up just like them, and for that, I am glad that I responsibly found my way through my limitations of poverty and disadvantages.”
